Important - Medical Treatment
Hypnotherapy is complementary to medicine. It is not a substitute for help you may get from your GP, a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist.
If you are severely depressed or feeling suicidal, or have unexplained physical symptoms, please see your doctor as well as coming to see me. With your consent I may contact your doctor for advice. Hypnotherapy may help you to feel better quite quickly, but do not stop taking any medication without first discussing with your doctor.
PHYSICAL ILLNESS AND PAIN
I will sometimes seek written advice from your doctor before continuing with therapy.
Although hypnotherapy is a choice treatment for neurotic disorders, it is unlikely to benefit psychotic illness. This does not mean I am unable to help in all cases. I have sometimes used a modified version of the therapy without using hypnosis. If I believe I can help I may write to your doctor first, explain what I intend to do and get his advice.
